Sri Lanka Geography

Sri Lanka is located in Southern Asia, in fact it can be labeled as a South East Asian country, surrounded by the Indian Ocean. It lies to the southwest of Bay of Bengal and southeast of Arabian Sea. Gulf of Mannar and Palk Strait separate it from Indian subcontinent. In the southern central part the island has mountains with the highest peak – Mount Pedro. Sri Lanka has a typical tropical climate and the whole year in general is hot and humid. January is the coolest month while May is the hottest one.
